Shimla
The capital city of the state of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla is one of the most iconic hill station destinations in India. The city was the former capital of Punjab and was established by the British as their summer capital in the 17th century. The Kalka-Shimla Railways with its 806 bridges and 103 tunnels enchants people even before they reach the montane haven and is also one of the few railways to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
